Description

Our 4x4 adventure begins in Câmara de Lobos, a charming fishing village nestled between cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean. This picturesque spot, with its colorful boats and terraced vineyards, once inspired Winston Churchill to paint its beauty. We then travel along winding roads to Ribeira Brava, a town named after the 'wild river' that flows through it, offering a mix of history and coastal charm with its 16th-century São Bento Church and stunning ocean views. Next, we reach Ponta do Sol, the sunniest place on the island. This quaint town, with its narrow streets and historic architecture, is bathed in warm sunlight and surrounded by dramatic cliffs and the vast Atlantic. We ascend to Paul da Serra, Madeira’s only plateau, often shrouded in mist and offering a stark, windswept landscape that contrasts sharply with the island's lush coastal areas. Descending, we arrive at Porto Moniz, famous for its natural lava pools, where the Atlantic crashes against ancient volcanic rock formations, creating a dramatic and invigorating swimming spot. Continuing along the coast, Ribeira da Janela greets us with its striking basalt columns rising from the ocean. Then we venture to our next stop in Seixal to admire the stunning black sand beach and crystal-clear natural pools, nestled against dramatic cliffs. After soaking in the beauty of this hidden gem, we continue our thrilling jeep journey through Madeira’s rugged landscapes to our next stop at Cabo Girão Skywalk, one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs. Standing 580 meters above the Atlantic, the glass-floored platform offers a heart-pounding view straight down to the ocean and terraced fields below. The adrenaline rush from walking on air, combined with panoramic views of the coastline, makes this stop an unforgettable highlight of the adventure. Our journey ends at Henriques & Henriques winery, where we toast Madeira’s rich wine tradition, capping off an unforgettable day.
